The cooler months are creeping in and with them sniffles & sore throats. For most people these pose nothing but a mild annoyance, but if you've ever struggled with a strep throat related guttate psoriasis flare, the merest hint of a sore throat might have you obsessively checking skin and praying those tell-tale tiny red dots do not appear.
Scientists are still a little baffled as to the strep / psoriasis connection. But it's definitely there. Many people aren't asked about it by their GP, but they look back on a flare and tell me it absolutely coincided with a sore throat.
I believe the correlating factor to have something to do with the lymph. Our lymphatic system is closely connected to our lymph nodes. But also our tongue & tonsils. Think of the lymph like a network of vessels - much like our blood vessels - designed as our bodies clean up system. Except the lymph has no heart to pump liquid around. It therefore relies on us to move, in order to get the lymph moving. This is why exercise is so important as part of a holistic healing journey.
Prevention is always better than cure, so if you know that the change in seasons might pose a trigger for your sore throat, take a Strep Shot to keep infection at bay.
INGREDIENTS
1 apple
1 lemon
1 inch chunk of turmeric
1 clove of garlic
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
Run the fruit and spices through your juicer, add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and neck it like a shot.
WARNING ... it's super strong! So if you really can't down this fiery beast, diluting it with water or adding a little manuka honey (if you're not strict vegan) can soften the shot somewhat.
If you're feeling really brave, you could try gargling with it!
The combination of antiviral, antifungal & antiseptic ingredients is sure to help kill throat infections before they trigger a chain reaction.
